


Creating an Island
Environment Art, Level Design, 3D-Modelling
Since 2018 I work voluntarily as a Level Designer and Environmental Artist for a private World of Warcraft Roleplay Server. My Task is to create the world map on which our players interact and play with each other.
When I started to first work on the Worldmap, I have just started to study Game Design and Production. I had been a part of the World of Warcraft Modding Community for quite a while and applied for the role of a “Worldbuilder” that was searched by the private roleplay project that I was a member of for half a year at that point.
I started to work on the very old map and my first attempts were not that visually appealing. But everyone starts out at some point and that is where I started at.
At the beginning of 2020 the team decided to switch from an older WoW Version to the newest one which was 7.1.0 – BFA at that point. Because the old worldmap was quite bugged and problematic, the decision was made to create a complete new one and that was my task!
It took me a whole year to rebuild EVERYTHING by myself.
Next to creating the world I am also responsible for custom content such as models and buildings. I created sets of furnitures, retextured many buildings and also modeled a huge castle.
Below you can see some impressions of my work. I chose a few of the many areas that I created!
Note: The majority of models were NOT created by me for this project. I was mostly responsible for the Level Design! All right to the models belong to Blizzard Entertainment. If a model was created by me, it will be noted in the gallery!
